Things to Do at Night in Barcelona

From rooftop bars to late-night street food, here's how to experience Barcelona after the sun goes down.

Best nightlife in Barcelona

01

Razzmatazz

Barcelona's mega-club with five rooms playing everything from indie to techno. It draws international DJs and a young, energetic crowd. Friday nights are the best — things don't start until 2am.

02

Sala Apolo

A stunning Belle Époque theatre turned nightclub in Poble Sec. Nasty Mondays (indie/rock) and Nitsa (techno Saturdays) are legendary. The chandeliers and red velvet make it Barcelona's most beautiful club.

03

Bar Marsella

The oldest bar in Barcelona (1820), famous for absinthe and its unchanged 19th-century interior. Hemingway and Picasso drank here. Order the house absinthe — they'll serve it with the traditional water drip.

04

Dry Martini Bar

Barcelona's most classic cocktail bar in the Eixample. The bartenders in white jackets make perfect Martinis and Manhattans. There's a secret speakeasy behind a bookshelf — ask the staff.

05

Magic Fountain of Montjuïc

Free light and music shows on weekend evenings where the fountain performs choreographed routines. It's touristy but genuinely spectacular — the colours synchronized to classical music are mesmerizing.

06

La Terrazza

An open-air nightclub inside Poble Espanyol on Montjuïc that opens in summer. Dancing under the stars in a faux medieval village is surreal. The electronic music programming is consistently excellent.

07

Paradiso

A pastrami bar with a hidden speakeasy behind a fridge door in El Born. The cocktails are creative and beautifully presented — frequently ranked among the world's best bars. Queue early.

08

Jazz Jam at Jamboree

Nightly jazz and jam sessions in a basement club on Plaça Reial. The Monday night jam session draws incredible musicians. Cover is cheap and the intimate vaulted space has perfect acoustics.
