Free Things to Do in Buenos Aires
You don't need to spend a cent to have an incredible time in Buenos Aires. Here are the best free experiences the city has to offer.
Free activities in Buenos Aires
Walk Recoleta Cemetery
One of the world's most beautiful cemeteries, with elaborate mausoleums housing Argentina's elite. Find Evita Perón's tomb, marvel at the architecture, and wander for hours. Completely free.
Sunday San Telmo Market
Every Sunday, San Telmo's streets fill with antiques, crafts, street performers, and tango dancers. The atmosphere is electric. Arrive early to beat the crowds and browse properly.
Reserva Ecológica Costanera Sur
A huge nature reserve on the waterfront in Puerto Madero — completely free. Walking trails through wetlands with views of the river. It's hard to believe this wild space exists next to the city centre.
Walk Avenida de Mayo
A grand boulevard connecting the Congress to the Plaza de Mayo. The architecture is stunning — ornate French and Spanish buildings, historic cafes, and the iconic Casa Rosada at the end.
Explore La Boca Street Art
Beyond Caminito, La Boca's streets are covered in murals and installations. Wander Calle Magallanes and the surrounding blocks for some of Buenos Aires' most powerful street art.
Bosques de Palermo
Buenos Aires' biggest park is free and beautiful. Rent a paddleboat on the lake, stroll the rose garden (Rosedal), or join locals doing mate on the grass. Weekend afternoons are magical.
Watch a Street Tango Show
Plaza Dorrego in San Telmo and various spots in La Boca have free tango performances daily. The quality varies but the best performers are genuinely extraordinary. Tip generously.
