Best Beaches in Dubrovnik
Sun, sand, and crystal-clear water — these are the best beaches in and around Dubrovnik for every kind of beach day.
Top beaches in Dubrovnik
Banje Beach
The most popular beach just outside the Old Town walls. The free public section has pebbles and great swimming. The views of the fortifications from the water are postcard-perfect.
Šunj Beach (Lopud Island)
A sandy beach on the car-free island of Lopud, reached by local ferry. The gentle curve of sand and shallow water make it the best beach in the Dubrovnik region. Pack food — options are limited.
Sv. Jakov Beach
A pebbly beach 20 minutes' walk east of the Old Town with incredible views back at the city walls. Less crowded than Banje and the water is crystal clear. Reached by steep stairs.
Betina Cave Beach
A tiny pebble beach inside a sea cave accessible by kayak or swimming. The turquoise water and the cave setting feel otherworldly. Best combined with a kayaking tour of the city walls.
Lokrum Island Beaches
Rocky swimming spots and a small pebbly nudist beach on this car-free island. The Dead Sea saltwater lake is warm and buoyant. A 15-minute ferry ride delivers you to paradise.
Copacabana Beach (Babin Kuk)
A family-friendly beach in the Lapad area with sunbeds, a beach bar, and water sports. Calmer and cheaper than the Old Town beaches. The long pebble beach is good for kids.
Buža Swimming Rocks
Below the famous Buža bar, the rocks allow you to swim directly below the city walls. Jump from the rocks into deep blue water with medieval fortifications towering above. Thrilling.
Pasjača Beach
Called the most beautiful beach in Europe by some — a dramatic strip of pebbles under a 200m cliff, south of Dubrovnik. Access is via steep steps and it feels completely wild and untouched.
