Walk the Stradun
Dubrovnik's main limestone street is free and magnificent — the polished stone, baroque buildings, and Onofrio's Fountain create a scene that's been essentially unchanged for centuries.
Explore the Old Town Back Streets
Step off the Stradun into narrow side streets and stone staircases. You'll find hidden churches, laundry hanging between buildings, and cats sleeping on windowsills. The real Dubrovnik lives here.
Sunset from Park Gradac
A pine-shaded park above the Pile Gate with free benches overlooking the Old Town and Lokrum Island. The sunset view is arguably better than from the walls — and it costs nothing.
Banje Beach
The public section of this beach right outside the Old Town walls is free. The swimming is good and the views of the fortifications from the water are extraordinary. Bring your own towel.
Walk to Fort Lovrijenac
The approach to this fortress on a rocky outcrop is free and dramatic. While entry to the interior costs, the walk out to it along the cliff path with Old Town views is spectacular.
Visit the Franciscan Monastery Pharmacy
One of the oldest pharmacies in Europe (1317) is visible through the doorway for free. The cloister is small and charming, with an ancient garden and Romanesque columns.
Pile Gate and Drawbridge
The main entrance to the Old Town is a masterpiece of medieval engineering. The drawbridge, the statue of St Blaise, and the Revelin Fortress gate are all free to admire and photograph.
Lapad Bay Promenade
A waterfront walking path outside the city centre lined with pine trees, swimming platforms, and beach bars. Locals jog and swim here — it's free, scenic, and far less crowded than the Old Town.
