Best Beaches in Santorini
Sun, sand, and crystal-clear water — these are the best beaches in and around Santorini for every kind of beach day.
Top beaches in Santorini
Red Beach
A dramatic beach with towering red volcanic cliffs. The short walk from Akrotiri passes ancient ruins. The red rocks against blue water are stunning — bring water shoes as the pebbles are sharp.
Perissa Beach
A long black volcanic sand beach with good facilities, beach bars, and the dramatic Mesa Vouno cliff at one end. The water is clean and the prices are reasonable. Santorini's best all-round beach.
Kamari Beach
Another black sand beach on the east coast with a boardwalk, restaurants, and an open-air cinema. The morning swimming is calm and the beach is well-organized with sunbeds and umbrellas.
White Beach (Aspri Paralia)
Accessible only by boat from Red Beach or Akrotiri, this secluded cove under white pumice cliffs is stunning. The pale rocks against turquoise water create an otherworldly landscape.
Vlychada Beach
A quiet beach beneath sculpted white cliffs that look like another planet. The pumice formations are extraordinary and the beach is rarely crowded. A small cantina serves cold drinks.
Perivolos Beach
The southern extension of Perissa with trendier beach bars and clubs. The sand is black, the water is warm, and the party scene picks up in the afternoon. JoJo Beach bar is the most popular.
Caldera Beach (Plaka Beach)
A small, quiet beach on the caldera side reachable from Akrotiri. The views across to the volcanic islands are spectacular from sea level — a completely different perspective from the clifftop villages.
Monolithos Beach
A shallow, sandy beach on the east coast that's perfect for families. The water stays shallow for a long way out, there's a playground nearby, and it's much less touristy than the famous beaches.
