Hike Fira to Oia
The most spectacular free walk on the island — 10km along the caldera rim with constant views of the volcanic islands, blue-domed churches, and the Aegean. Start early to avoid the midday heat.
Watch the Oia Sunset
The iconic sunset from the castle ruins is free and genuinely magnificent. The sky turns every shade of orange, pink, and purple. Arrive an hour early for a good spot — it gets extremely crowded.
Explore Pyrgos Village
The highest and most traditional village on Santorini is free to wander. The Venetian castle at the summit has 360-degree views. The whitewashed lanes and blue-domed churches are photogenic and uncrowded.
Swim at Perissa Black Beach
The volcanic black sand beach is free to access. The water is clear, the sand is dark and dramatic, and the Mesa Vouno cliff at the north end is imposing. Sunbeds are paid but the public beach is free.

A traditional village with neoclassical mansions, vine-covered lanes, and a central square with cafes. It's free to explore and gives a sense of how Santorini looked before mass tourism.
Caldera View from Imerovigli
The view from Imerovigli (the 'balcony of the Aegean') is free and arguably better than Oia's. The Skaros Rock fortification is accessible by a free scramble and the sunset from here is less crowded.
