Hidden Gems in Singapore
Skip the tourist traps. These are the secret spots, hidden corners, and local favourites that most visitors never find in Singapore.
Secret spots in Singapore
Haw Par Villa
A psychedelic theme park from 1937 with over 1,000 statues depicting Chinese folklore and the Ten Courts of Hell. It's bizarre, beautiful, and completely unique. The Hell Museum is genuinely fascinating.
Tiong Bahru Neighbourhood
Singapore's oldest public housing estate has Art Deco architecture, indie bookshops, and some of the city's best cafes. The wet market's hawker centre upstairs has incredible local food.
MacRitchie TreeTop Walk
A 250m suspension bridge through the rainforest canopy in the middle of Singapore. The walk through primary jungle with monkeys and monitor lizards feels like another country entirely.
Kampong Glam Beyond Arab Street
Beyond the Instagram-famous Sultan Mosque, explore the back streets for vintage shops, craft perfumers, and Middle Eastern restaurants. Muscat Street has excellent Turkish coffee and Lebanese food.
Bukit Brown Cemetery
One of the largest Chinese cemeteries outside China, with ornate tombs dating to the 1800s. Walking tours reveal the stories of Singapore's pioneers. The jungle is reclaiming many tombs — haunting and beautiful.
Pulau Ubin
A bumboat ride from Changi brings you to this rustic island with kampong (village) houses, mangroves, and the Chek Jawa wetlands. It's Singapore 50 years ago — wild, quiet, and completely different from the mainland.
