Best Beaches in Bali
Sun, sand, and crystal-clear water — these are the best beaches in and around Bali for every kind of beach day.
Top beaches in Bali
Padang Padang Beach
A gorgeous cove reached through a rock crevice in Uluwatu. The crystal-clear water and surrounding cliffs make it feel like a movie set — because it literally was one (Eat Pray Love). Go early to avoid crowds.
Nusa Dua Beach
The calmest swimming beach in Bali with turquoise water and white sand. The public access section south of the resorts is just as beautiful and far less busy. Perfect for families.
Thomas Beach
Uluwatu's most underrated beach — it's right next to Padang Padang but a fraction as crowded. Good swimming, a small warung for beers and noodles, and a laid-back surfer vibe.
Green Bowl Beach
A hidden beach on the Bukit Peninsula reached by 300+ steps down a cliff. There are caves with bats at either end, the snorkelling is excellent, and at low tide you might have it to yourself.
Balangan Beach
A long golden sand beach backed by cliffs in Uluwatu. The surf is great for intermediates, the warungs serve cold Bintang with sunset views, and it still feels relatively undiscovered.
Bias Tugel Beach (Secret Beach)
Near Padangbai port, this hidden cove requires a short scramble over rocks. The turquoise water is stunning and it's a genuine secret — even most Bali regulars haven't been here.
Amed Beach
Black volcanic sand with some of Bali's best snorkelling directly from shore. The Japanese shipwreck is visible in shallow water and the underwater life is extraordinary. Very quiet and local.
Bingin Beach
A tiny beach under dramatic limestone cliffs in Uluwatu. Access is via steep steps past cliffside surf shacks. The vibe is bohemian, the water is pristine, and the sunset is world-class.
