Things to Do at Night in Paris
From rooftop bars to late-night street food, here's how to experience Paris after the sun goes down.
Best nightlife in Paris
Seine River Walk
Walking along the Seine at night when Notre-Dame, the Louvre, and the bridges are illuminated is free and endlessly romantic. The quays below street level are intimate and atmospheric.
Le Caveau de la Huchette
A jazz club in a 16th-century cellar in the Latin Quarter. Swing and jazz bands play nightly and the dance floor fills with locals who actually know how to dance. The stone vaults amplify the energy.
Sacré-Cœur Steps at Night
The steps of the Basilica in Montmartre fill with people drinking wine, playing guitar, and watching the city sparkle below. It's Paris's best free nighttime gathering — bring a bottle and join in.
Point Éphémère
A cultural centre on the Canal Saint-Martin with live music, DJ nights, and art exhibitions. The programming ranges from experimental electronic to indie rock. The canal-side terrace is great in summer.
Philharmonie de Paris
Jean Nouvel's stunning concert hall at La Villette hosts world-class classical and jazz performances. Even if you don't attend a concert, the building's exterior is spectacular when lit up at night.
Harry's New York Bar
The birthplace of the Bloody Mary (1921) and the French 75. The mahogany interior is unchanged and the bartenders are old-school. Hemingway, Gershwin, and Coco Chanel drank here.
