Ditta Artigianale

Florence's specialty coffee pioneer with multiple locations. The Oltrarno branch has a gorgeous courtyard garden and does excellent pour-overs and flat whites. The pastries are baked in-house.

Caffè Gilli

One of Florence's grandest historic cafes on Piazza della Repubblica, operating since 1733. The interior is gilded and ornate. The espresso is proper Italian and the pastry counter is a work of art.

Todo Modo

A bookshop-cafe near the Duomo with a literary atmosphere and surprisingly good coffee. Browse independent Italian publishers, sip an espresso, and escape the tourist crush outside.

La Ménagère

A stunning concept space combining a flower shop, restaurant, and cafe in a gorgeous interior. The cappuccino is excellent, the pastries are beautiful, and the design-magazine interior is inspiration itself.

Caffè Rivoire

On Piazza della Signoria since 1872, famous for its hot chocolate — thick, rich, and essentially liquid ganache. Sit outside facing Palazzo Vecchio and the Loggia for the most iconic cafe view in Florence.

A health-focused cafe near Santa Croce with excellent coffee from organic beans and genuinely delicious plant-based pastries. The matcha latte and the raw cacao brownies are standouts.

S.Forno

A bakery-cafe in the Oltrarno with incredible bread and pastries from a wood-fired oven. The schiacciata (flatbread) with olive oil and salt, fresh from the oven, is Florentine breakfast perfection.

Caffè dell'Oro at Portrait Firenze

A luxury hotel cafe right on the Ponte Vecchio with Arno views from the terrace. The coffee is excellent and the setting — watching the river flow under the medieval bridge — is unforgettable.
