Best Beaches in Sydney
Sun, sand, and crystal-clear water — these are the best beaches in and around Sydney for every kind of beach day.
Top beaches in Sydney
Bondi Beach
Australia's most famous beach is iconic for a reason — the arc of golden sand, the turquoise water, and the Icebergs pool at the south end. Swim between the flags and walk to Bronte for the full experience.
Manly Beach
A 30-minute ferry ride from Circular Quay delivers you to this Northern Beaches paradise. The surf is consistent, the promenade is lined with restaurants, and the Corso walk from the harbour to the ocean is classic Sydney.
Shelly Beach
A hidden cove at the south end of Manly Beach with calm, clear water perfect for snorkelling. The reef is alive with blue groper, cuttlefish, and Port Jackson sharks. The best free snorkelling in Sydney.
Bronte Beach
A smaller, more local alternative to Bondi with a grassy park, rock pool, and excellent cafe (Bronte Beach Cafe). The ocean pool is perfect for laps and the weekend BBQs in the park are a local tradition.
Tamarama Beach
A small, dramatic beach between Bondi and Bronte with powerful waves and a surfer crowd. It's nicknamed 'Glamarama' for the beautiful people. The Sculpture by the Sea trail passes right above in October.
Coogee Beach
A family-friendly beach at the southern end of the coastal walk with calm swimming, a great pub (Coogee Bay Hotel), and the Wylie's Baths ocean pool — a heritage-listed tidal pool with ocean views.
