Ride Tram 28 (Standing)
While the tram costs a ticket, standing at a stop and watching it rattle through Alfama's narrow streets is free entertainment. The yellow vintage trams against pastel buildings are Lisbon's most iconic image.
Miradouro Viewpoints
Lisbon has dozens of free viewpoints — Graça, Senhora do Monte, Santa Luzia, and Portas do Sol are all stunning. Walking between them through hilly neighbourhoods is the best way to see the city.
Walk from Baixa to Belém
A riverside walk along the Tagus past the MAAT museum, under the bridge, to the Tower of Belém. The waterfront path is flat, free, and takes about an hour. The morning light on the river is beautiful.
Explore Alfama
The oldest neighbourhood in Lisbon is free to wander. Narrow streets, tiled facades, laundry lines, and surprise viewpoints around every corner. Get lost — it's the best way to experience it.
Feira da Ladra Flea Market
Lisbon's Tuesday and Saturday flea market at Campo de Santa Clara is free to browse. Vintage tiles, old records, and unexpected treasures. The setting around the São Vicente church is gorgeous.
Street Art in Mouraria
The multicultural neighbourhood has some of Lisbon's best street art, including pieces by Vhils and Bordalo II. The narrow streets and crumbling facades create a perfect urban art gallery.
